Finally seeing The Lion King at Animal Kingdom

Today started off with… rain! We almost didn’t make our FP+ reservation for the Safari ride, but got there just in time, and it ended up drying out while we were on it. I got the girls some Mickey ice cream and myself a Dole Whip with dark rum (YUM) and walked around the animal trail, checking out the animals… nothing new here but still quite relaxing.

We then headed over to catch our FP+ for The Lion King show. In the year of our annual pass, we had never stopped to see the show. As the saying goes, if I haven’t seen it… it’s new to me. It was really good! We loved the energy of the dancers, and the monkeys had us laughing so hard!

We walked around the other trails, had some lunch at Yak and Yeti (where are my noodle bowls?!?!) and rode Expedition Everest. We then got to watch Bug’s Life which I hadn’t done in years since our oldest daughter was always too scared to go on it. It was pretty creepy! They still didn’t like it too much!

By this time it was so hot we were all ready to go back to our amazing CSR pool and cool off. We also had dinner reservations for Maya Grill right there at the resort. On a side note, just a random question but why does the beeping when the buses lower have to be at an ear-piercingly LOUD level? Don’t they know we are all standing right next to it? So. much. beeping.

Maya Grill at Coronado Springs was very nice. The food was good.. I wouldn’t say “great” as it was kind of hit or miss. For example, the taco trio I got, 2 of the 3 tacos were amazingly delicious, but the 3rd was just meh. Too dry to even finish. My first jalapeno margarita was spot on, so refreshing delicious with a splash of cool from the cucumbers and a hint of spice (The same company owns La Cava De Tequila in Epcot). Mr. Roamer got the fancy Parillada del Grill dinner for 2 which he split with our oldest, but the chicken was a bit dry, and the steak they ordered medium rare came out medium well. When he sent it back (which we never do), it came back rare (like, purple and white strings rare). The 3rd time the manager had to come over, offer us more drinks, and ensure it would be right the next time. It was perfect the 3rd time and quite delicious, however the 2nd jalapeno margarita he brought me I could barely drink. It was SO HOT even Mr. Roamer, who loves spicy, couldn’t bare to drink it. I attempted to take out all the jalapenos and noticed there were no cucumbers in it this time. I guess they did 2 scoops of HOT and not enough COOL to make it enjoyable. Overall it was a good dinner, and nice to be able to walk back to our room afterward, but I don’t think we would eat there again.

Tomorrow – Epcot!
